When I’m not baking, I love to play Magic the Gathering. So when I heard that there was going to be a Magic Bake-Off, I knew I had to throw my hat in the ring!
I made my first doll cake, based off of one of my favorite new cards but with a twist! Now she’s a ginderbread person.
I mashed up the card with the inspiring new character from the trailer. Here’s hoping she gets her own card one day too!
Linden is a gingerbread cake, covered in swiss meringue buttercream and fondant. The character is made from gumpaste.
And I came in 3rd place!
I made this cake for
Icing Smiles. It was my first cake made for them. I’m looking forward to making more. It’s such a great cause.
The birthday boy asked for a cake with rainbow colors, Daniel Tiger, and a lot of chocolate!
I made a chocolate cake, filled it with chocolate swiss meringue buttercream, and applied a white chocolate ganache.
Then the decorations were all handmade from fondant.
I was really proud of Daniel. He’s so cute in his little cardigan.
This cactus cake was made for a baby shower. It’s decorated like the baby’s nursery, yellow and with cactuses!
I made the cactuses out of gumpaste.
The cake is a vanilla cake with lemon and blueberry fillings, and of course … a swiss meringue buttercream.
My favorite coworker left for another company, so I had to bake her a goodbye cake.
I made her baby-shower cake as well, two years ago.
I wanted the goodbye cake to be similar and show how much progress I’ve made in the past two years! I loved the baby-shower cake at the time (and still think it’s cute) but I’ve learned so much more about making decorative flowers. I want to go back and recreate it again some day.
It’s hard to make the first cut.
This was another Matcha cake. They’re just so delicious. People were coming back for seconds all night.
This matcha cake was so delicious. The nice earthy flavor was perfect for this birthday celebration.
The buttercream is my favorite swiss meringue buttercream and it was adorned with fresh raspberries.
How do people take pictures while decorating? I can’t multi-task at all!
It’s a little late to be posting this, but here’s the turkey cake I made for thanksgiving this year. It’s a spiritual prequel to
He was a vanilla cake with dark chocolate ganache.
The head was made with modeling chocolate and the large feathers were gumpaste.
I threw a Christmas themed Halloween party this year (weird, I know). This candied beast was the centerpiece of our traditional Christmas dinner spread.
The cake itself was cherry-flavored with vanilla buttercream. Decorations were done using fondant, modeling chocolate for the bone, and pineapple rings and maraschino cherries for the garnish.
And a bonus picture of me in my Sally costume:
This crazy sock cake was for a sock-themed birthday party. It’s a raspberry cake covered in chocolate ganache & fondant.
This little elephant was for a baby shower. He’s made of fondant and is sitting on top of a lemon cake with lavender buttercream.
The Luggage is a character from Terry Pratchett’s Discworld series. It’s a treasure chest with legs that follows its owner around on his adventures. If an enemy tries to open the Luggage, they see a scary mouth and get eaten. But the owner and his friends can access his belongings.
This luggage is filled with vanilla cake, lavender buttercream, and chocolate ganache.
This cake was for a little boy who LOVES his construction toys. The whole party was construction themed. He even had a bulldozer piñata to smash.
The cake is chocolate with vanilla buttercream. It was super moist and chocolatey.
I made this fun cake for a baby’s first birthday. The request was for a lemon cake with strawberry filling, with a baby Dumbo and balloons.
I made Dumbo by painting a fondant piece with edible paint. And the balloons are all buttercream icing.
Here’s a cake I made for a bridal shower.
It’s a delicious flavor combination: vanilla cake with lemon and blueberry fillings. I make this one a lot!
I made another wedding cake.
The couple sketched the cake themselves and I executed it.
Here was the sketch. When we spoke in person, we changed up some of the colors and reordered their initials (the bride comes first).
And here’s the cake!
It was a vanilla cake with vanilla Swiss Meringue Buttercream frosting and Sugar Plum jam filling.
I wanted to practice my buttercream flowers and made two pretty Flower Wreath Cakes.
Both are vanilla with vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream.
This one was filled with Sugar Plum jam.
This one was filled with Blueberry jam and Lemon Curd.
I made another flower themed baby shower cake. This time it’s buttercream flowers though!
The cake is pumpkin flavored with cheese-cake filling and white chocolate buttercream.
We did another baby shower at work. This one was for my direct coworker, so I went all out and made a Bouquet of Flowers cake.

For a Romantic Evening
This cake was made for a friend’s “Trashy Romance Novel” themed birthday party. A month before hand she jokingly asked that I put Trump’s face on her cake. And so I had to deliver. To make it a little more thematically appropriate, I also decided to give him fabulous Fabio hair. My only complaint was that I didn’t get him orange enough.

My first wedding cake
This was made for my boyfriend’s sister after her cake baker backed out last minute. I had never made a wedding cake before, but thought it would be a lot of fun. The experience making this cake is why I’m still baking cakes today and hope to make more wedding cakes soon.

These were some cupcakes made for St Patrick’s Day. The rainbows and Pots of Gold were from a wonderful Pinterest post I found and used Rolo’s, Airhead Extremes, and Gold pearls. The others simply had a chocolate coin on top.

Who doesn’t love Carrot Cake?
This carrot cake was made for two coworkers’ birthdays. I chose to make a carrot cake mostly because one of them really doesn’t like vegetables. But even he liked the carrot cake.
